Selling your iPhone online is one of the most convenient ways to score some extra cash.  It’s also very simple as long as you stick to a few key rules.

Cancel service on your old iPhone

Before selling your iPhone be sure to call your network provider and let them know you want to cut or transfer service from the iPhone you’re selling. Then remove your SIM card. Besides preventing any unwanted bills you’ll also have peace of mind knowing that a stranger can’t impersonate you. If you don’t follow this advice and your grannie asks why you called to ask if her fridge was running just take it as a subtle “I told you so”.

Delete your data

The best way to wipe the data from an iPhone is by going to the settings app and selecting “general – reset – erase all content and settings.” This will delete every trace of information from the iPhone and bring it back to factory settings so it can be easily re-homed.

Pick a website to sell it on

There’s a myriad of options to choose from when selling your old iPhone. Deciding where to sell it is one of the most important steps in the whole process and is a decision you shouldn’t make lightly. Fortunately, we’ve made an entire blog post that describes your best options and the pros and cons of each. One of the best methods described in the post is selling to GadgetGone. We offer free shipping, fast payments and the highest offers (backed up by our price-match guarantee).

Ship it safely

| GadgetGone

Once you’ve sold your iPhone you’ll need to ship it out. To ensure everything goes smoothly it’s best to invest a little time in packaging up your iPhone the proper way. Go to the store and pick up a small box or padded envelope, some bubble wrap and shipping tape. Wrap the iPhone in bubble wrap at least 3 layers deep to prevent damage in transit and then seal it in your packaging using the tape. If you received a pre-paid shipping label make sure you tape it to the box on all sides so it doesn’t get torn off in transit. Be sure not to tape over the barcode though, doing so can prevent barcode scanners from reading your label.

Spend your cash!

Once you’ve gotten paid for your iPhone all that’s left to do is decide how to spend your cash. You can put it towards the purchase of a new iPhone or if you’re feeling really adulty maybe invest it in some Apple Stock so you can have your cake and eat it too.
