Welcome to an in-depth look at iPad trade-in values for 2022 (so far). The market has more than its fair share of tablets to choose from, including the Pro, Air and Mini. In the shuffle, it might be easy not to see how much yours might be worth.
That’s why we’re here! With this guide, we’ll provide a better idea of iPad trade-in values across the board for Apple’s latest iPads. What’s more, we’ll cover the price spectrum based on condition, so even if it’s seen better days, you’ll still have a better idea of overall value.
And, if you’re curious about upgrading, we’ve also provided information on how you can send in your older device to GadgetGone. That’ll enable you to enjoy your newer iPad – and much sooner than you might think!
Need help determining what condition your item may be in? Here’s a summary of conditions as explained on our website:
- Brand New- Must be sealed in its original retail packaging, has all factory-included accessories and has never been activated.
- Flawless- Fully functional and completely flawless. Has no scratches or blemishes of any kind. Must have a clean ESN (no financial balances or blocks). Battery health must be at or above 80% and without a “service battery” message.
- Good- Fully functional and shows average signs of use such as minor to moderate scratches / scuffs. Must have a clean ESN (no financial balances or blocks). Battery health must be at or above 80% and without a “service battery” message.
- Fair- Fully functional and shows heavy signs of use such as deep or excessive scratches, dings, dents, scuffs or abrasions. Engravings of any kind also qualify a device as Fair. Must have a clean ESN (no financial balances or blocks). Battery health must be at or above 80% and without a “service battery” message.
- Cracked- Fully functional and has a cracked/chipped screen (LCD must be undamaged) OR cracked rear glass. Must have a clean ESN (no financial balances or blocks). Battery health must be at or above 80% and without a “service battery” message.
- Damaged- The device is fully functional but has any of these issues: battery life below 80%, battery health displays “service battery” message, weak speakers, minor frame damage, cracked camera lens, LCD blemishes
- Broken- The device powers on but does not function properly or has a financial balance / blocked ESN. Note: We do not purchase devices that are iCloud locked or reported lost/stolen
- No power- The device does not power on. Note: We do not purchase devices that are iCloud locked or reported lost/stolen
This would be a good time to take a close look at your device and see which category it falls into. Who knows, you could have an iPad in pristine condition that’ll net you quite a bit for your iPad trade-in!
As we explained in a more detailed blog earlier this week, the iPad Pro is worth the upgrade. Featuring state-of-the-art visual and audio technology, fast processing speed (powered by the Apple M1 chip), and an abundant list of features, it’s quite simply the best tablet on the market.
With the iPad Pro prices listed below, we cover the spectrum across three different sizes, going with the “smallest” version (usually the 128GB WiFi model or less), all the way up to the most expensive (typically the 2TB with WiFi and cellular). It should give you a better idea of its overall worth.
(Note: the below prices came from our most current quotes at GadgetGone, since we know a thing or two about determining the value of such great devices!)

You may have noticed that this iPad trade-in guide focuses more on Apple’s newer tablets. But what about older iPads?
Sadly, the truth is they just aren’t worth that much anymore, mainly because their technology has been outdated by superior models. However, that doesn’t mean your device is worthless.
If you have an older iPad that still works, you can see what it sells for on eBay to get a better idea of overall worth. If you’re curious enough, you might even find the original 2010 model of the iPad for a good bargain!
That said, we do still take a few older iPad devices at GadgetGone, from the iPad 2 to the iPad 8, depending on condition. Feel free to take a look at our most current price quotes for further details on the iPad trade-in value for your device.
So now that you have a good idea of what your iPad is worth, what do you want to do with it? If you enjoy everything it’s doing for you at the moment, relax and enjoy a movie or kick back with your favorite playlist. But if you’re looking for something new, GadgetGone can help you with your iPad trade-in!
The process is simple. Head over to our price quote page and find what device you want to trade in. After entering condition details, lock-in your quote with a 14-day no-hassle guarantee, then use our provided shipping label (yep, free shipping!) to send it along. Make sure you package it carefully so it doesn’t move around loosely in the box.
After two to five business days upon receipt, we’ll provide your payout through one of three payment methods – a mailed-out check, an Amazon gift card (if you can’t wait to apply the purchase to a new iPad device), or a PayPal payment. It’s up to you!
If you have any questions about our trade-in process, feel free to reach out to our support team. We’re happy to lend you a hand.
And that concludes our 2022 iPad trade-in price guide. Hopefully you’ve got a better idea of what your device is worth, and that’ll help you determine if you need something new or if you’re happy with what you have. Whatever the case, here’s hoping your iPad continues to deliver you entertainment for years to come!
